Honey Butter Crispy Chicken
Introduction
Honey Butter Crispy Chicken is a sweet and savory dish featuring crunchy fried chicken coated in a rich honey-butter glaze. It is crispy on the outside, tender inside, and perfect as a main dish or snack.
Ingredients
For the Chicken
- 500 g chicken thighs or chicken breast, cut into bite-size pieces
- 1 teaspoon salt
- ½ teaspoon black pepper
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 egg
- ½ cup cornstarch
- ½ cup all-purpose flour
- Oil for deep frying
For the Honey Butter Sauce
- 3 tablespoons butter
- 3 tablespoons honey
- 1 tablespoon brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon soy sauce
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
Preparation Method
Step 1: Season the Chicken
Place the chicken pieces in a bowl. Add salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and egg. Mix well so the chicken is evenly coated.
Step 2: Prepare the Coating
In another bowl, combine the cornstarch and all-purpose flour. Coat each piece of chicken thoroughly with the flour mixture.
Step 3: Fry the Chicken
Heat oil in a deep pan to about 175°C (350°F). Fry the coated chicken pieces for about 5–7 minutes or until golden brown and crispy. Remove and place on paper towels to drain excess oil.
Step 4: Prepare the Honey Butter Sauce
In a pan over medium heat, melt the butter. Add the minced garlic and cook briefly until fragrant. Stir in the honey, brown sugar, and soy sauce. Let the mixture simmer for 1–2 minutes until slightly thickened.
Step 5: Coat the Chicken
Add the fried chicken to the pan with the honey butter sauce. Toss gently until all pieces are well coated with the glaze.
Serving Suggestions
Serve hot with steamed rice, fried rice, or a simple salad. It can also be served as a snack with coleslaw or fries.
Tips
- For extra crispiness, fry the chicken twice. Fry once until lightly golden, let it rest for a few minutes, then fry again for 2 minutes.
- Using cornstarch helps create a lighter and crispier coating.
- Adjust the sweetness by adding more or less honey according to taste.
