Cinnamon Apple Puff Pastry

Ingredients
- 2 sheets puff pastry, thawed
- 2 medium apples, peeled, cored, and thinly sliced
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg (optional)
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 1 tablespoon butter
- 1 egg (for egg wash)
- 1 tablespoon water
- Powdered sugar (for dusting, optional)

Instructions
- Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a bowl, combine apple slices, sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and lemon juice. Mix well and set aside.
- Roll out the puff pastry sheets slightly and cut into squares or rectangles.
- Place a small portion of the apple mixture in the center of each piece. Add a small dot of butter on top.
- Fold the pastry over (or leave open-faced) and seal edges by pressing with a fork if making turnovers.
- Beat the egg with water and brush over the pastry tops.
- Bake for 18–22 minutes, or until golden brown and puffed.
- Allow to cool slightly, then dust with powdered sugar if desired.

Serve warm on its own or with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream.
